For most people, the first time they have an IV will be in a hospital, urgent care, or ER setting. However, IV’s aren’t just for hospitalized patients. IV hydration and IV infusions are the gold standard for many illnesses to get us back to our “baseline” and feeling good again.
Although the majority of us are good candidates for IV therapy, there are some contraindications (dialysis patients or those with kidney disease or heart disease) where vitamin therapy may be inadvisable. When choosing an IV clinic you should always undergo some type of medical screening process. You will need to inform the clinic of any allergies, medications, supplements, or other current treatments prior to initiating your first IV. At BFLO Hydration, our nurses are specially trained to identify anything that might prohibit you from being an appropriate candidate. For all others whose kidneys and heart are functioning properly (even pregnant women!), IV therapy provides a direct route to physical, mental, and emotional wellness.
5 reasons you should consider vitamin IV infusions at BFLO Hydration
1) Hydration
Feeling blah? There’s a very good chance you’re dehydrated. Being dehydrated can cause a variety of unpleasant symptoms such as dizziness, weakness and fatigue, irritability, and headaches. Hydration is an essential part of our body’s way to stay balanced, or achieve homeostasis. Here are some of the things that being hydrated can do for you:
- Helps carry nutrients and oxygen to your cells
- Optimizes digestion
- Reduces inflammation
- Maintains blood pressure
- Nurtures your skin, hair and nails
- Protects your organs
- Regulates your temperature
The majority (over 85% of the population according to current statistics) of us are dehydrated. This is due to a variety of factors including chronic disease, supplements and medications, toxins in our food/soil, and time/schedule demands.
2) More Vitamins!
Vitamin injections are a great way to increase your levels on a weekly basis. However, not all vitamins are easily received by our muscle tissue. For example, Vitamin C is very viscous and can burn in an intramuscular injection. The best way to receive higher and effective doses of Vitamin C is by administering them intravenously with fluids. IV fluids make it safe and easy to administer much higher doses of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and antioxidants in a relatively short amount of time.
3) 100% Absorption
By bypassing the digestive system (the gut), we can guarantee 100% absorption and utilization of the vitamins we receive.
4) Minimal Risk of Side Effects
The potential for having a reaction or negative side effect from vitamin IV therapy is very low. The most common reactions we see are bruising at IV insertion site and rash from the tape/adhesive that is used to secure your IV catheter in place. Phlebitis (inflammation of your vein) is another possible reaction, but is very easily treatable. Your IV will always be administered by a licensed RN who is specifically trained to monitor and respond to these types of reactions.
5) Lasting Results
Many people are concerned that higher doses of IV vitamins are just “expensive pee” and that they will just get rid of everything when they urinate. All of the B vitamins and vitamin C are what we call “water soluble”. This means that they are not stored in the body and that our bodies excrete the excess. However, this doesn’t mean that our body doesn’t utilize them first. They are put to good use where they are needed. Some people need more than others. Since our vitamins will provide your body with more fuel, you will feel better longer!
